I feel Language Arts is a particularly important area of education; listening, speaking, reading, and writing permeate all 8th grade curriculum. This makes them essential to learning and to the demonstration of learning in every content area. The study of literature not only gives us access to wise advice about life, but it also teaches us how to analyze/understand the thinking of others. The study of writing teaches us how to organize our own thoughts. These communication skills are important in every type of work that our students will experience in the future. I hope this explanation helps you to understand the reason for my love of what I do. It is extremely important to me for my students to develop a respect and understanding for how Reading and Writing will benefit them in the future.
I started at Schultz in 2004. I have taught Dyslexia, 6th, 7th and 8th grade ELA. My degree is a Bachelor of Science in Human Sciences from Prairie View A & M. I am married to Oscar Lee Fitch and we have two sons who are married and together have given us 5 grandchildren. We live in Chappell Hill and I love being outside with my horses. I am also very thankful to all of the students that I have had the honor of teaching. They have enriched my life and I enjoy seeing them be successful.
